How hot?  Track temp both Saturday and Sunday reached 160F.  That's how hot, really.  The Wicked Witch of the West whined about melting - we can identify with that feeling.  .

On Saturday, Sambo Tyra temporarly lost his mind and talked rookie dragster drivers Robert Schoemer (left) and Chris Kelly (right) into driving Sambo's foot brake rail.  Your writer would describe the fit in the narrow cage as "tight". A further comment would be that is was a blast to drive, but going from an 8 second family car to a 6 second squeeze cage was a bit like being stuffed in a can and tossed off a cliff - with only slightly more control of the situation.  Neither driver claimed to be scouring the classifieds for used long cars.  Thanks Sambo!

EDIT - I forgot the best part of this whole thing!  When Schoemer went to stage the car, Sambo was leaning over the cage making sure it was in the right gear and telling Robert to bring it up to around 2500.  The pre-stage bulbs were lit.  While Sambo was looking down, Robert rolled into stage.  Sambo saw the tree fire and jumped back just as Robert hit the hammer. You can call Robert "Shoeshine Schoemer now" thanks to a 1.39 60', right over Sambo's right shoe.  Left a little shiney spot.

Kady Knox is our newest Jr racer.  She went from license on Saturday to racing on Sunday.

Rhino Linings & Truck Accessories of Abilene Top ET:  Jon Chamberlaine grabs another win in Top ET.  That's two in a row so far.  His last win was noted at 6.488 on a 6.47 dial with a .010 reaction time.  Here's the heat - this week, the dial fell off to 6.586 on a 6.57.  Looking for consistency? How about a .0099 reaction time.  Jeff Tibbets got the runner up spot with a dang-it -.007 red light and (of course) a dead on 5.763 on a 5.76 pass. Jon has worked up a pretty good lock on first place in Top ET points.

Whitten Inn Modified ET: From the You've Seen One Brown Camaro You've Seen 'em All department - Roy Blackstock staged up against the look-a-like ride of James Asbill in the Modified final round.  James left a bit too soon, going -.057 red to hand the win to Roy.  We're pretty sure this win put's Roy up to #1 in Modified.

Max's Kawasaki Motorcycle:  Larry Zienteck scored his third win in a row, knocking off Danny Lewis in the final round.  And Larry has won each race on a different bike.  Figure that one out.  Larry dialed the bike right, leaving with a .073 light and posting a 6.599 on a 6.58 dial to win.  Danny had a bit slowers .086 light but fell off his 7.11 dial to a 7.188.
Longmire Plumbing Jr. Dragster: And, here is another repeat winner.  Jacob Scherr of San Angelo claimed a second class win over Morgan "If I Runner Up Again I'm going to Scream" Fulgham.  Morgan missed the tree, giving Jacob way too much space at the finish line.  Jacob's winning ticket read 8.26 on an 8.07 with Morgan also running off at 11.69 on an 11.43.
All Run Showdown: Kimie Lakey got a nice win in All Run, taking out Maxey Chittum on the last pass.  Kimie hit .046 on the tree and ran 5.20 on a 5.15 dial.  Maxey was a bit behind, with a .075 reaction and running a soft 5.47 on a 5.31.
Pro Footbrake: Brody Tibbetts earned himself an 18th birthday present by taking the win in Pro Footbrake.  A 6.84 on a 6.82 dial with a .44 reaction time put the icing on the cake.  Robert "Sorry I'm Late, Thanks I Don't Need A Time Trial" Hector ran real consistent all day but took the stripe a little too quick in the final.  Robert clocked 8.513 under an 8.52 dial with a .069 reaction time.

Pro Footbrake Birthday Butt Wuppin': In honor of Brody's 18th birthday, several "friends" stepped in to administer the appropriate birthday ritual.  As you can tell from the lady's expression, it was an ugly scene.
