A small sample of the killer street cars that have been coming to the track on Saturdays.  Thanks to abileneracingforum.com members for bringing out some fine machines.

Rhino Linings & Truck Accessories of Abilene Top ET:  Wynette Hudgins got the win in Top when Jerry West went -.025 red in the last round.  Jerry was dialed 5.51 against Wynette's 4.77, so he had the first chance to muff the launch. Maybe next time!

Whitten Inn Modified ET: Brody Tibbetts got two by runs at the end of Modified.  One by run got him into the final.  In the final, Roy Blackstock went -.031 red to hand Brody another by and the Modified win.

Max's Kawasaki Motorcycle: Larry Zienteck  lined up against Ray Villarreal in the Motorcycle final.  Ray left first with a 5.90 dial but was way late on the tree, giving Larry a big advantage.  Larry dialed 7.68 and had a decent .067 light, so he backed off to a 8.14 ET for the win.
Longmire Plumbing Jr. Dragster: Carson Lewis staged across from Tanner Thorp in the Jr. final round. Carson was away first with a .069 reaction and an 8.96 dial.  Tanner left a bit too soon with a -.046 red and broke out to boot, running 7.895 on a 7.90 dial.  Carson used the run as a time trial and ran 8.93 under his 8.69.
All Run Showdown: It was certanly a red letter - er -light day at the drag strip.  Debbie Gowler got the award for "Most Painful Red in a Final" when she went -.003 pink against Tommy Watts.  Tommy had the dial, running 5.849 on a 5.85 and Debbie ran a close 7.21 on a 7.18.  But the whole thing was over right at the start.
Pro Footbrake: The Pro Footbrake final was a race right down to the stripe.  The slow Ford picked off the speedy dragster by mere thousandths.  Chris Kelly dialed 8.22 for the final pass.  Sambo Tyra put the dragster (yes - he's footbraking it) down for a 5.89.  Chris got a little avantage in reaction time with a .017 light to Sambo's .028.  At the top end, the Falcon took the stripe by .005 with a 8.223 on the 8.22 and the win. Sambo stopped the clocks at 5.8882 for a itty bitty -.0018 break out. Whew, that was a close one.

Modified Gamblers:  Bryant Manning won the Saturday Mod Gamblers after Bobby Knox killed it on the tree with a -.022 red light. If not for the red light, it would have been a shootout run - Bryant went 7.583 on a 7.58 and Bobby drove it out for a 6.844 on a 6.894 dial.
